The main scientific directions of the department are the study of the secretory function of the mammary gland of cows and methods of its correction, as well as the problems of veterinary neontology (Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor MD Kambur), study and development of measures to combat echinococcosis and dicroceliosis. VN, Associate Professor Kovalenko LM) and the influence of anthrax antigen on the development of young cattle (Ph.D., Associate Professor Kalashnik OM), resistance of turkeys (Livoshchenko EM).
At the department there are 6 student research groups in the disciplines of the department: physiology, anatomy, morphology, pathophysiology and others.

Employees of the department prepared scientific and methodological complexes on the disciplines of the department, issued more than 72 methodological developments and recommendations. Employees of the department take part in the work of specialized councils, expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission.
